It gives you a full understanding about the procedures and important details of crimp terminal positioning. You open the crimping tool by "closing" it. Just press the handles together and the ratchet mechanism will release the lock. Place the crimp terminal into one of the 4 slots with the matching size for terminal and wire. The front of the crimp terminal must stick out of the jaws-rear far enough (the images explain it best). This is the most important aspect! Close the tool a little bit until it squeezes down the rear-wings of the crimp terminal (the so called "insulation holders"). Now push the uninsulated wire into the rear of the crimp terminal until the insulation stops at the narrow part in the middle of the crimp terminal (the so called "wire core holder"). The images show exactly what is meant. Insulation holder of the terminal is fully over the insulation, wire holder is completely over the uninsulated wire core. Now fully close the tool and it will "open" again when fully squeezed together. Done! You can always "pre-open" the tool by pushing the small lever (on the inside of the bottom handle) towards the front of the tool, while slightly pressing the handles together. If you experience that the front of a crimp terminal turns upwards or downwards, just place a finger underneath the crimp terminal front, which sticks out of the tool. Easy!

Why are other extraction tools or methods avoided by professionals Of course you could extract the wires from the connectors by using other tools or even staples, but the other “tips” are mostly thicker than the tips of the original MOLEX Pin Remover. Why are other extraction tool tips usually thicker? Thicker tips would be needed with lower quality materials, so they do not instantly break off if used slightly wrong. The MOLEX Pin Remover tips can only get damaged with serious human error in the extraction process. Thicker tips would theoretically make the extraction easier, which many think is the main quality aspect, but that is very short-sighted and dangerous. If something is thicker than the MOLEX tip specifications, it will damage or reduce the highly important flexibility of the locking tabs on the sides of the crimp terminal. What would happen? The crimp terminal would not hold securely in the connector later on and could move out of position / fall out of the connector. In worst case you would end up with electrical damage to the devices in your system. Imitations and the story behind it Sometimes there are products, which try to look like the MOLEX original, on the market. These have been created by shop owners, who were not happy with the low (or no) profitability they had on selling the original Pin Remover by MOLEX. They then tried to offer a low-cost imitation of the basic shape, which is covered by tape or shrink in the whole grip-area, so the visible rest “could” look like an original MOLEX tool to the inexperienced user. With MDPC you will only get the best product, not just similar, close or nearly identical. No compromise, because tools are not toys.
